STABBING SHOCKS CHINGFORD MOUNT, TWO ARRESTED

A 34-year-old man was knifed during an altercation on Old Church Road in Chingford Mount on Wednesday evening. The victim was taken to a major trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries and later arrested for affray and possession of an offensive weapon. A 17-year-old boy was also detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Both remain in custody pending further enquiries. Police sealed off Old Church Road for several hours, diverting bus routes. Chingford and Woodford Green MP Iain Duncan Smith pledged to work with local officers to combat knife crime in the area.
