The Labrador District General Investigation Section (GIS) did a solid job Monday night, haulin' in two suspects after a traffic stop turned up cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Roy Russell, 45, and Eliza Gregoire, 30, both from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, are facin' charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possessin' stolen property.
Around 5:30 p.m., officers spottin' a known suspended driver decided to pull 'em over. With some help from local law enforcement and the Labrador District Police Dog Services, they cornered the vehicle without a hitch. Russell was nabbed for drivin’ while prohibited, but it didn’t stop there.
Officers found suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the car, leadin' to Eliza Gregoire’s arrest as well. A thorough search turned up more cocaine, cash, cell phones, and items linked to drug trafficking. Russell’s got a couple extra charges for drivin’ while prohibited and failin’ to comply with his probation.
Both suspects were let go with conditions and are set to appear in provincial court in October 2026. Cocaine is a major player in overdose deaths around these parts, so if you see someone strugglin', call for help right away.
